About Big Band Arrangements by Ken White

Many different styles in many different configurations.

Throughout my years of writing big band arrangements, I have produced arrangements for big band in many different styles such as swing, Latin and rock, with some other styles in between. These arrangements vary from instrumental to vocal, with the vocal charts appearing as either male vocal, female vocal, or male-female vocal duo. Complete lists can be made available upon request.

Examples range from:

Instrumental: Hawaiian War Chant (Tommy Dorsey version),  Theme From "Star Wars" (uptempo swing a la Buddy Rich), Sophisticated Lady (lead alto sax feature), and Oak Park Ave. Blues (original composition in a medium swing style a la Basie or Woody Herman).

Male Vocal: Minnie The Moocher (Cab Calloway), Smooth (Santana), Let The Good Times Roll (Louis Jordan/Ray Charles), and Ain't Misbehavin' (Fats Waller).

Female Vocal: Green Dolphin Street (medium swing, based on George Benson/Count Basie version), L-O-V-E (Natalie Cole version), Sway (medium rhumba), and Walk Between Raindrops (swing shuffle/Donald Fagen).

Male-Female Vocal Duo: Let's Call The Whole Thing Off (medium swing), Baby, It's Cold Outside (slow swing), You Make Me Feel So Young (medium swing), and Unforgettable (Natalie & Nat "King" Cole duet).
